Port of Zlarin

Harbour information

The port is located in the natural bay in the north-western part of the island of Zlarin. It is naturally protected from most winds, with the exception of winds blowing from the west and northwest. This port has more landing quays and quaysides with berths for smaller boats than any other.

The port has 375 m of stone and concrete quay with berths for smaller boats. At the entrance of the bay, at the head of the largest landing quay, stands a SOLAR-POWERED beacon ( Red flash 0,5 + 2,5 sec. 3 NM ).

As laid down in the Implementation plan, a small harbour with berths for smaller boats will be built north of the main landing quay; the harbour will have a five-ton column crane for lifting and lowering boats.

North side – has berths for passenger boats (from the head of the wharf to the middle), and berths for excursion boats (from the middle of the wharf to the base).
South side – has berths for powerboats, yachts, excursion and fishing boats and small crafts.

LANDMARKS: belfry in the village , and light on the N pierhead - white square tower with column and gallery.

WEATHER: exposed to N and NW winds which raise a sea in the harbour and cause a swell. Within the harbour and on W side of the pier vessels are sheltered from the Bora.

CURRENTS: tidal currents are predominant, attaining rates of up to 0.6 kn. Gale Bora and NW wind increase the current rate to 1.5 kn..

ANCHORAGE: closer to the W shore in the bay; gravel, good holding.

BERTH: alongside either side of outer pier; the pier is used by ferry. Vessels can also berth stern -to between the second and the third small pier, or to the E shore.

SUPPLIES AND FACILITES: water from hydrant and piers; post office, surgery, pharmacy, private accommodation, restaurants, cafés, and shops.
WIFI Internet access, video surveillance

CAUTION: When entering from N, care is neccessary to avoid the shoal Roženik, on its N end marked by a light - green tower with column and gallery on base in the sea, and on its SE end by a pillar buoy coloured black with a horizontal yellow band and topmark - two black cones one above the other base to base (E cardinal).
Leading line Rt Marin (Zlarin island) - SE edge of Sestrica Vela islet, leads clear of dangers between the shoals Roženik and Mali Roženik.
Leading line Jadrija lighthouse - Rt Debeli (Kanal Sv. Ante) leads clear of dangers S of the shoal Mali Roženik.
About 150 m of the light on the shoal Roženik, care is necessary to avoid remains of a light structure and concrete base in the sea.
