Šibenik-Knin County Port Authority was established on July 15, 1997 for the purpose of management, development and utilization of the Šibenik town port and other ports in the Šibenik-Knin County that are open for public transport.

Activities of the Port Authority are the following:

1. Building, maintaining, management, protection and improvement of the maritime demesne that is the port district,
2. Building and maintaining the port infrastructure, which is financed from the Port Authority founders’ budget,
3. Expert supervision of the building, maintenance, management and protection of the port district (port infrastructure and superstructure),
4. Ensuring permanent and undisturbed port traffic, technical and technological integrity and safety of navigation,
5. Ensuring the provision of public services or of those services for which no other company is commercially interested in,
6. Coordination and supervision of the operation of the concessionaires that perform economic activity in port area,
7. Making decisions concerning establishing and managing the free zone within the port district pursuant to the regulations concerning free zones,
8. Other activities, as regulated by the law.
